In the summer transfer window, Real Madrid and Manchester City are the front-runners to capture Erling Haaland. Other prominent European teams are also interested in signing the player, but with the large financial package involved, there has yet to be a clear winner.

As a result, no team can be certain that their strategy will work, so they've strategically set up alternate targets.

Defensa Central claims that if Real Madrid is unable to get the Norwegian striker, they will try to sign Dani Olmo, a Spanish international. His performances at RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga have gotten him a lot of accolades, especially following the previous season.

The 23-year-old is a talented offensive midfielder who can play in a variety of positions. He has also performed admirably on the wings and as a False 9 centre-forward.

Real Madrid's current marksman, Karim Benzema, enjoys roaming freely across the pitch. He likes to drop in and help with the set-up, as well as migrate to larger locations.

Olmo would be an excellent fit for Los Blancos because he can operate in those areas and has a similar profile to them. He also received praise during Spain's run to the Euro 2020 semi-finals last year, where he demonstrated his ability to play against top-level opponents. It will be intriguing to see if the 23-year-time old's as a member of Barcelona's junior ranks from 2007 to 2014 influences his next destination.

A return to the Catalan club was also discussed, but the player chose to remain at RB Leipzig. As a result, if he wants to return to Barcelona, he may reject Real Madrid.

Olmo's season has been cut short due to a torn muscle fibre that has limited him to only 18 games. So far, he's tallied three goals and five assists.

Real Madrid is still in the driver's seat to win La Liga.

Despite the fact that the Spanish heavyweights are eagerly anticipating the summer transfer window, the job at hand is to win La Liga. They are currently in first place, with 66 points and a nine-point lead over second-placed Sevilla.

Real Madrid, on the other hand, were thrashed by Barcelona in their final game before the international break. The Catalans came to the Santiago Bernabeu and dominated the hosts, winning 4-0.

Xavi continues to be lauded for his efforts at Camp Nou, but Carlo Ancelotti's tactics were clearly incorrect in this encounter. Ancelotti's future with Los Blancos has also been questioned following the setback. The Italian will be hoping that his team responds well and puts on a dominant performance against Celta Vigo on Saturday night.

With Real Madrid still fighting for the Champions League, it will be interesting to observe if the defeat in El Clasico puts them under pressure and changes their attitude for the rest of the season.
